What is the cost and effort involved in integrating directly with a new shipping carrier?


If I want to test out a new carrier who's not supported either directly or by the iAbol shipping label processor, how costly and difficult would it be?


It's highly variable based on the carrier and our interaction with it. If we're talking to the carrier API, it makes the project a bit more complex; but if we're generating labels and tracking locally, it may be less effort. Again, highly variable. To test carriers that are not on iAbol, you have the option to start a direct carrier integration project. Or you could have the warehouse team ship a set of orders via Willcall through RetailOps, then manually ship these orders through the new carrier's website or software. This is a temporary measure and usually allows for very small-scale testing.
